Hygiena Anounce New Instrument
The launch of a new hygiene instrument by Hygiena International marks yet another milestone for this rapidly developing international supplier of hygiene test systems.The new alphanumeric SystemSURE Plus will be available in over 80 countries. It incorporates a much larger memory than previous systems, allowing storage of more information for longer periods of time. Its 'fast statistics' button enables the user to review percentage pass caution and fail figureswithout the need to upload to a PC. The new data analysis software, Sure Trend, allows simpler and faster reports, including trend analyses, to be carried out. The LCD screen displays each written sample location with a capacity to store 250 of them. It shows the sample plan from a choice of 20, and up to 50 named users can be stored. The new instrument is built around state-of-the-art photodiode technology which is smaller and lighter than traditional photomultiplier systems, and is far more cost effective. Like all the instruments and swabs in Hygiena's ATP range, the new machine is veryeasy to use because of its simple menu-driven keypad. It is designed to be used with the Ultrasnap swab and Aquasnap water sampling device. The technology enables the user to verify cleaning instantly, and can store date for diligent reporting and trend analysis. The new system has already been tried in many UK and US food producers who are well established Hygiena customers. In just three years over 8000 instruments have been installed around the world. Hygiena expects to increase this number even further. A leading US supermarket group is also testing the new system, and has so far foundthat it is an extremely useful audit and surveillance tool. Hygiena's products range from the sophisticated ATP instruments to simple colour change hygiene tests. The company ensures that its customers are fully supported and advised, whether they are the larger businesses or the more modest small food producers seeking outside support. SystemSURE has enabled several companies to demonstrate that high standards of hygiene have been implemented in support of third party accreditation schemes such as BRC Global and EFSIS. I arrived in the large port city of Vizag fully intending to pass through Andhara Pradesh the next day on a train to Chennai and Tamil Nadu. Decided at the last moment to see what AP had to offer and headed to the station to catch a train to Hyderabad. Spontaneous decisions are fun but not always practical....not having reserved a ticket I found that the next 6 trains were fully booked. Had to use my best acting skills to look disappointed and forlorn to be left to sit on the platform overnight - thankfully pity was taken on me and I was allowed to sleep/sit in the corridor - and even though I was told I would HAVE to pay a 400 rupee fine for this pleasure I managed to escape that as well! My first stop in Hyderabad/Secunderabad (twin cities) was the Adelphi hotel - famous for it's biryani. This was the hot tip I had received from my fellow train travellers. Although I don't think I have covered much about food in these writings it has been a huge part of my experience - as you would perhaps expect. An Indian identifies himself with his local dish -a Hyderabadi is proud of biryani and of course biryani made anywhere else is simply not the same. I suppose that is the same in many parts of the world. Take a deep fried Mars bar out of Glasgow... Hyderabad was interesting - I enjoyed walking around the old city with the Char Minar and it's minarets, the huge mosque and the palaces of the Muslim Nizam rulers. The speediest rickshaw drive ever (boy racer) took me to the fort of Golconda built on a granite hill - a mini city that surely would have been mightily impressive in its day. Adjacent to Golconda are the even more impressive tombs of the Nizams - they certainly were intent on being remembered in style. At the tombs I also had the bizarre and somewhat funny sight of seeing the young female Muslims of Hyderabad escaping disapproving looks to remove burqas and hold hands with their boyfriends! I suppose on reflection it is notthat funny...perhaps having to conform to parental and societal wishes is an uneasy burden. Another puzzling instance of this for me happened in a mobile telephone shop...the young lady who was helping me was dressed in a very smart western style uniform. When I returned later to the shop and she was finishing her shift the burqa was on. Uniform acceptable for the shop, burqa on for outside.
